When the Anchor Drifts Away: A Daughter’s Soliloquy to Her Departing Father

Poetry Image

In the quiet of the morning’s dawn,
I felt the emptiness, like a storm withdrawn.
Your footsteps echoed through the hall,
Fading whispers, a distant call.

The laughter we shared, memories so sweet,
Now shadows linger where we used to meet.
Your strong embrace, a fortress tall,
Now seems like a dream, a gentle fall.

The world feels colder, the nights too long,
In my heart, an unspoken song.
Your wisdom, your love, a guiding star,
Now seems so distant, ever so far.

Yet, in my soul, I hold you near,
A silent prayer, a single tear.
For though you’ve gone, our bond remains,
In every heartbeat, in every vein.
