High above the azure sea, he soared,
Wings of wax and feathers, dreams adored,
A father’s warning, a cautionary tale,
Yet ambition led him, daring to prevail.
The sun’s warm embrace, a siren’s call,
Beckoned Icarus to rise and to fall,
Higher he climbed, with eyes full of light,
Unaware of the perilous height.
The wax did melt, feathers took flight,
Plummeting down from the dizzying height,
A splash in the sea, a life undone,
The tragic end of a father’s son.
In the depths, a lesson, timeless and true,
Of dreams pursued, and hubris too,
For in the quest to touch the sun,
We must remember where we begun.
