The Subtle Chains of Selfish Desires

Poetry Image

In the garden of one’s mind, where shadows play,
Lies the seed of selfishness, in quiet disarray.
It grows with whispers, subtle and unseen,
Binding hearts in chains, where love has been.

It whispers promises of endless gain,
Yet leaves behind a trail of silent pain.
The heart, once open, now a fortress tall,
Guarding treasures, fearing their fall.

In pursuit of self, the world is left behind,
Eyes blind to the beauty, that once was kind.
The soul, it yearns, for a touch so pure,
But finds only echoes, of a love unsure.

Break free, dear heart, from this selfish chain,
Let love’s true light, wash away the stain.
For in giving, we find, a joy profound,
In selflessness, true peace is found.
