The Silent Killer of the Modern Age

Poetry Image

In shadows deep, it takes its toll,
A silent thief of breath and soul.
The ember glows, a fleeting spark,
Consuming life, leaving marks.

Inhaled dreams turned into night,
Each puff a battle, silent fight.
The smoke entwines, a ghostly veil,
A life diminished, frail and pale.

The fingers tremble, lungs constrict,
With each drag, a deadly script.
The heart beats fast, then slows to stop,
Chasing illusions, it can’t swap.

Yet hope remains, in clear fresh air,
A chance to live, to breathe, to care.
Cast aside the deadly vice,
Embrace the dawn, a new sunrise.
