The Shadows of Segregation: A Reflection on Apartheid’s Enduring Echoes

Poetry Image

In the land where silence spoke,
Whispers of division etched the air,
Lines drawn on maps and hearts alike,
A tapestry of suffering and despair.

Walls that towered, unseen by eyes,
Kept dreams caged and hopes confined,
Yet through the cracks, resilience bloomed,
In every soul, a light enshrined.

Voices rose in unison’s call,
Against the tides of relentless night,
To break the chains, to tear the veil,
And reclaim the dawn of equal right.

Though scars remain, they tell a tale,
Of courage in the face of fear,
A testament to human strength,
In unity, a future clear.
