The Shadows of Dependency: A Lament on the Chains of Drug Abuse

Poetry Image

In the silence of midnight’s hold,
Where whispers of longing softly unfold,
Lies a shadow, dark and deep,
In dreams where innocence once did sleep.

A promise of escape, a fleeting embrace,
Yet in its grip, lives slowly erase,
The colors of youth fade to gray,
As the soul drifts further away.

Silent screams in a crowded room,
Hearts once vibrant, now consumed,
Chasing solace in a fleeting high,
While beneath, the spirit begins to die.

But hope’s light flickers in weary eyes,
A chance to break free and rise,
To mend the wounds, to heal the scars,
And reach once more for the distant stars.
