In a sea of faces, I drift alone,
Seeking a place where I might be known.
Among the crowds, I stand apart,
A silent echo, a beating heart.
The whispers of others, a distant hum,
A melody to which I can’t succumb.
Their laughter rings, a foreign tune,
Beneath the sun, beneath the moon.
I wear a mask, a crafted smile,
Hiding the ache that grows all the while.
In mirrored glass, I catch a sight,
Of a soul lost in the fading light.
But hope persists, a gentle spark,
That one day I may leave my mark.
To find a place where I can be,
Unveiled, unmasked, completely free.
