The Scars of Unkind Words: A Reflection on Body Shaming

Poetry Image

In a world where beauty’s narrowly defined,
We forget the heart, the soul, the mind.
Judged by the curve, the shape, the size,
A mirror reflects society’s lies.

The words they fling, they cut so deep,
Leaving scars that often seep.
Confidence shattered, esteem eroded,
By standards harsh and hearts corroded.

Yet beneath the skin, the flesh, the bone,
Lies a spirit, uniquely our own.
Worth not measured by a scale or gaze,
But by love’s light and kindness’ blaze.

Let us rise above the shallow view,
Embrace ourselves, both me and you.
For beauty’s vast, diverse, and grand,
When seen through eyes that understand.
