In shadows deep, where chains once lay,
The spirit soared, and found its way,
Through fields of pain, and nights so long,
A heart of strength, beat ever strong.
From silent tears, and whispered cries,
Rose up the dreams, that touched the skies,
With every step, through fire and rain,
A legacy, of love and pain.
In every soul, a story told,
Of battles fought, and courage bold,
Through darkest times, a light did shine,
A testament, to strength divine.
So let us honor, every name,
In every heart, burns the same flame,
For in the past, we find our guide,
In black history, we take pride.
