A World Divided by Color: The Echoes of Apartheid

Poetry Image

In the shadow of the past, our hearts still bleed,
For the walls that rose on a foundation of greed.
Skin as a marker, a cruel divide,
Humanity’s essence set aside.

Children of sorrow, born into chains,
Their dreams shattered by unjust gains.
Hope, a flicker, in the darkest night,
Yearning for a world where love takes flight.

Mothers’ tears, rivers of pain,
Fathers’ cries, lost in the rain.
Together they stand, yet miles apart,
Bound by the wounds in each broken heart.

Though the chains may fall, the scars remain,
A reminder of a time when hate reigned.
Let us learn, let us heal, let us strive,
To build a world where all can thrive.
