The Mask We Wear: Shielded Smiles, Hidden Frowns

Poetry Image

Beneath the fabric, we hide our truths,
A shield of cloth, a barrier of youth.
Our voices muffled, our expressions faint,
A silent world of hidden paint.

Eyes become the windows now,
To emotions we seldom allow.
A smile concealed, a tear unseen,
In this masked world, what do we glean?

We wear our masks to shield from pain,
A common thread in a world insane.
Yet behind the veil, our hearts still beat,
Seeking warmth in eyes we meet.

When the masks come off, what will remain?
Will we find each other, or just the same?
For now, we wear them, day by day,
In hopes that love will find a way.
