Shadows Over The Land: Whispers of Despair

Poetry Image

In the heart of the city, under the somber skies,
The echoes of yesterday’s laughter fade away,
Dreams once vibrant, now wrapped in silent cries,
As hope surrenders to the shadows of dismay.

The streets are lined with faces worn and pale,
Each step a heavy burden, each breath a sigh,
The promise of tomorrow feels so frail,
In the land where even the strongest hearts lie.

Children play in the dust, unaware of the plight,
Their innocence a stark contrast to the pain,
Eyes once bright, now dimmed by endless night,
As the Great Depression casts its endless rain.

Yet, in the darkest hours, a flicker of light remains,
A resilient spirit, unbroken by the storm,
For deep within the soul, hope still sustains,
And from these ashes, a new dawn will be born.
