When Childhood Slips Away

Poetry Image

In the mirror, a stranger’s face I see,
A child no longer, but who am I to be?
The days of innocence, where did they go?
Time has a way of stealing what we know.

Memories of laughter, carefree and wild,
Now replaced with worries, no longer a child.
Responsibilities mount, dreams pushed aside,
Growing up too fast, there’s nowhere to hide.

The seasons change, and so do we,
Chasing a future, but what about me?
Life’s expectations, they weigh so much,
How I miss the days of a gentle touch.

Yet in the rush, a strength I find,
A wisdom and courage of a different kind.
Though childhood slips, it leaves behind,
The roots of who we are, forever intertwined.
